Chicago,
USA, May 18, 2005
Addressing
supporters of World Wildlife Fund at the Shedd Aquarium in
Chicago, Vince Pérez reveals that the epicenter of
marine biodiversity in the world is the Sulu Sulawesi Seas.
He narrates how WWF and its partners are making progress in
marine conservation, but it would be a mistake to sit back
and leave behind these "islands of success". He
warned that the onslaught of extraction must be reversed.
For many Asian societies today, the environment is the social
security system of the poor. Sustainable development, therefore,
must be anchored on environmental conservation.
